Alimony
Alimony/Spousal Support, is support paid from one spouse to another during and after a divorce proceeding. Florida Law sets forth guidelines that must consider when determining whether alimony should be awarded, and if so, the amount of alimony.
Some factors include: the length of the marriage, the income/earning capacity of both spouse, the roles that each parent took in caring for any children in the marriage. The various types of alimony include: permanent, temporary, bridge-the-gap, durational, rehabilitative, and lump-sum. In some circumstances the court may even award special alimony when your spouse has committed a tortious act.
When you have an experienced family law attorney, it can make a significant difference in the outcome regarding whether alimony is awarded or not.
